Seva, one of the core Siddha Yoga practices, is selfless service offered to God and the Guru, without attachment to the results of one’s actions and without desire for personal gain. Performing seva is a way to cultivate the steady awareness of union with the Self, the divine Consciousness within, even while engaging in everyday activities.
You are invited to participate in the practice of seva at the center and/or on behalf of the center. Some people offer seva in areas in which they have specific skills while others offer seva in areas that require them to cultivate new abilities. On the Siddha Yoga path, every seva is considered equally important to any other seva.
Here are a few examples of seva opportunities:
- Communications Assistant – Edit and send email communications to the regional community. Editing and/or MailChimp experience preferred but not required.
- Tech – Assist with audio-visual and lighting for live and recorded programs and events. No previous technical experience necessary.
- Website maintenance – WordPress experience is helpful.
- Food service – Duties may include food preparation, purchasing and inventory, serving, and occasional kitchen clean-up and/or opening and closing procedures.
- Set up and break down before and/or after programs.
- Bookstore liaison and/or rotating team member.
- Other departments also welcome team members!
Please contact our Seva Coordinators at steers@siddhayogaboston.org or leave a message at (617) 221-5673 if you wish to offer seva.
